Marlon de Azambuja was born in Porto Alegre, Brasil, in 1978. He studied in Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Edilson Viriato in Curitiba. Lives and works in Madrid since 2005.

Solo exhibitions include Brutalismo (Brutalism) in Galería Max Estrella in Madrid, Spain, 2014; La Construcción del Icono (The Construction of the Icon) in CAAM Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, 2011; Niveles (Levels) in Casal Solleric in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, 2010; Proyecto Moderno (Modern Project) in Galería Luisa Strina, Sao Paulo, Brasil, 2009; and Potencial Escultórico (Sculptural Potential), in Matadero Madrid, Spain, 2009.

Group exhibitions include: Theorem, in Mana Contemporary, New York, USA, 2015; On Painting, CAAM, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, 2013; 11th Havanna Biennial, Cuba, 2012; 11th Cuenca Biennial, Ecuador, 2011; 8th Bienal do Mercosul in Porto Alegre, Brasil, 2011; and 12th Cairo Biennial, Egypt, 2010.

His works are included in several public collections such as Museu de Arte Contemporânea do Parana, Museu Oscar Niemeyer in Curitiba, Itau Cultural Sao Paulo and Banco Espirito Santo in Brasil, Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno, Canarias, Sabadell Bank, María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation and OTR in Spain; Nomas Foundation, Roma, amongst others.
Text: The work of Marlon de Azambuja aims to generate strategies that amplify the perceptions and relations that the spectator establishes with the city, architecture and the world in general. He develops his practice through different media, mainly installation, video, photography, sculpture and drawing.
